MicroMod STM32 Processor is the main module of the MicroMod series. It is equipped with the STM32WB5MMG microcontroller from STMicroelectronics with very low power consumption, which combines a pair of ARM Cortex-M4 cores with FPU and ART for basic calculations and ARM Cortex-M0 for handling the 2.4 GHz RF stack. The module radio is Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3, Zigbee 3.0 and OpenThread certified. The Cortex-M4 core can run up to 64MHz and features a single-precision floating-point unit (FPU). It also implements a full set of DSP instructions and a Memory Protection Unit (MPU) to enhance application security. The module uses an integrated chip antenna for the RF stack with a Tx output power of up to +6 dBm and an Rx sensitivity of -96 dBm for BLE and -100 dBm for 802.15.4 protocols. The processor includes an additional 128MB (16MB) serial flash memory chip.
The module is equipped with an M.2 connector, thanks to which it can work with expansion boards from the MicroMod series. It has I2C, UART, SPI, I2S, GPIO buses, dedicated digital, analog and PWM pins. A guide with sample programs is available on the product page to help you get started with the kit.
MicroMod is an interface ecosystem that connects the main module to the processor or the microcontroller to various peripherals through expansion boards. Using the M.2 standard, MicroMod allows easy replacement of main modules.
