The Pololu S18V20AHV module is a DC-DC switching regulator of the step-up/step-down (buck-boost) type with an adjustable output voltage in the range of 9 V – 30 V. The circuit operates with an input voltage from 2.9 V to 32 V, with a recommended maximum operating voltage of 30 V, and can both increase and decrease the input voltage as required. The SEPIC (Single-Ended Primary Inductor Converter) topology enables stable regulation regardless of whether the input voltage is higher or lower than the output voltage. The typical maximum output current is approximately 2 A, while efficiency in most applications ranges between 80–90%, helping reduce energy losses and heat generation.
The module includes an ENABLE pin that allows the regulator to enter a low-power mode. In sleep mode, the quiescent current depends on the input voltage and can be reduced to tens of microamps. The regulator also features reverse-polarity protection, over-current protection, thermal shutdown (approx. 165°C), and under-voltage lockout. The output voltage is adjusted using an onboard trimmer potentiometer, and the manufacturer recommends keeping the sum of the input and output voltages below 55 V. The board supports multiple connection methods, including 5 mm screw terminal blocks, 2.54 mm header pins, or direct wire soldering. Four M2 mounting holes allow easy installation in electronic devices or enclosures.
