A module dedicated to the analysis and supply of development boards for short-range applications in the nRF51, nRF52 and nRF53 series, as well as SiP from the nRF91 series. It allows you to measure and deliver power below 1 uA up to even 1 A. It is powered by a standard 5V USB cable that can deliver up to 500mA of current (two USB cables are needed to power up to 1A).
The board can operate in the ammeter (AMP) or current source (SMU) mode. In ammeter mode, the external power source must supply a VCC voltage of between 0.8 and 5 V, while in power source mode, it provides a VCC voltage of 0.8 to 5 V, and the built-in stabilizer supplies up to 1 A current to external applications. it is possible to measure low sleep currents as well as peak currents in nRF development kits. The advanced measuring unit used allows for accurate measurements of energy consumption in the entire range typical for embedded applications with low power consumption.
Power Profiler Kit II is not only an ammeter and a power source. The module can also work as a logic analyzer, enabling measurements synchronized with the program code. This can be achieved by connecting the digital inputs to the I / O pin on the external device under test (DUT). The digital input can then show what code is being executed in the device under test at different times of operation.
The set works with computer software operating within the nRF Connect for Desktop platform. Power Profiler can display both average acquisition times and high-resolution events in the same window. Measured data can be exported for further processing. The user also has at his disposal the Online Power Profiler (OPP), a tool that estimates the current values of power consumption for the Bluetooth Low Energy, LTE-M and NB-IoT protocols through laboratory tests.
