Programmer designed for flashing firmware to boards based on ESP32 and ESP8266 microcontrollers that do not have a built-in USB-UART converter. Communication with a computer is handled by the CH340 chip and USB-C connector, while automatic bootloader activation simplifies the programming process. Soldered 333398

Description

The programmer enables firmware uploads to ESP32 and ESP8266 boards during prototyping, custom circuit development, and programming of finished devices. The integrated circuitry handles the required signal sequence for automatically entering bootloader mode, eliminating the need to manually control the GPIO0 and RESET lines. Connection to the target board is provided through a 6-pin header carrying GPIO0, RESET, RX, TX, 3V3, and GND signals.

A CH340 USB-UART converter handles communication, while the USB-C connector provides the connection to a computer. The programmer works with Arduino IDE, esptool used for MicroPython firmware uploads, and other standard ESP flashing tools. The board includes LEDs indicating RX and TX activity as well as power status. Two mounting holes for M3 screws allow secure installation in a project, and the board measures 38 x 22 mm. The hardware design is available as open source.
