The device Digipot 100k MCP4018 breakout by Soldered provides software-controlled resistance adjustment using the MCP4018 digital potentiometer from Microchip. The variant offers a nominal resistance of 100kΩ and 128 adjustment steps. The module can replace a mechanical potentiometer in circuits requiring resistance control from a microcontroller, including adjustment of analog circuit parameters and signal levels.
Control is handled via the I2C bus at a fixed address of 0x2F. The board provides SDA and SCL pins as well as two Qwiic connectors, compatible with easyC and STEMMA QT, for solderless connection to compatible boards. The A and W pins provide access to the fixed resistor terminal and potentiometer wiper respectively.
The wiper resistance is 100Ω. The board can be powered from 3.3V or 5V through the VCC pin. The I2C pull-up resistors are connected to 3.3V and can be disconnected using a hardware jumper.
The board measures 22 × 22mm. Two 3.2mm mounting holes are designed for M3 screws. The manufacturer provides an Arduino library, documentation, and open-source hardware design files, including schematics, KiCad files, Gerber files, and 3D models.
