Description
The device Digipot 5k MCP4018 breakout by Soldered provides software-controlled resistance adjustment using the MCP4018 digital potentiometer from Microchip. The variant offers a nominal resistance of 5kΩ and 128 adjustment steps. The module can replace a mechanical potentiometer in circuits requiring resistance control from a microcontroller, including adjustment of analog circuit parameters and signal levels.
Control is handled via the I2C bus at a fixed address of 0x2F. The board features two Qwiic connectors for solderless connection to compatible boards. The SDA and SCL pull-up resistors are connected to 3.3V and can be disconnected using a hardware jumper.
The potentiometer provides 128 discrete settings between its minimum and maximum resistance values, while the wiper resistance is 100Ω. According to the manufacturer's specifications for the 333090 variant, the board supports a supply voltage range of 1.8–5V.
The board measures 22 × 22mm. The manufacturer provides an Arduino library with documentation, a pinout, and open-source hardware design files for integration into custom projects.
