Description
Gigabit Ethernet expansion module with RTL8211E-VB chip dedicated to Galatea Spartan 6 PCI Express FPGA development boards. It complies with 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000Base-T IEEE 802.3 standards and supports communication with the Ethernet MAC layer via the standard RGMII interface. The main purpose of using the RGMII interface is to halve the number of I / O to combine MAC and PHY. RTL8211E-VB implements autonegotiation to determine the best possible speed and mode of operation. HP Auto-MDIX support allows the use of direct connections or crossover LAN cables. The expansion module also has a Microchip 24AA02E48 2Kbit EEPROM with a built-in unique MAC address that can be read from the EEPROM and used for the Ethernet interface.
