Description

Managed Ethernet switch designed for building extensive wired networks in industrial automation, plant infrastructure, control systems and installations requiring a large number of connections. Teltonika SWM281 provides 24 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbps ports and 4 dedicated SFP ports, enabling connections between local devices and fibre-optic links over longer distances. Layer 2 functionality includes VLAN, STP/RSTP, Loop Protection, Port Isolation, Port Mirroring, IGMP Snooping and IEEE 802.3ad LACP link aggregation. MRP support in client and manager roles together with EtherNet/IP facilitates integration with industrial network infrastructure.

Layer 3 functionality includes static IPv4 and IPv6 routing as well as BGP, OSPF v2, RIP v1/v2 and EIGRP dynamic routing. QoS mechanisms provide traffic prioritisation based on port, DSCP, IEEE 802.1p and TOS, while Rate Limiting, Storm Control and Port-Based Traffic Shaping support bandwidth management. Security mechanisms include RADIUS and TACACS+ authentication, IEEE 802.1X network access control and MAC address filtering. Cable Diagnostic, Ping, Traceroute and Nslookup tools support network diagnostics and troubleshooting.

A non-blocking bandwidth of 56 Gbps and forwarding rate of 83.33 Mpps provide the capacity required for handling high traffic volumes between multiple connected devices. The switch uses a Realtek 500 MHz processor, 128 MB of DDR3 RAM and the OpenWrt-based SwmOS operating system. Management options include WebUI, SSH, SNMP and Teltonika RMS, while FOTA provides firmware update capabilities. The 483 mm wide housing supports installation in a 19" rack, while direct 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz input eliminates the need for an external DC power supply. SWM281 can be deployed in telecommunications cabinets, automation systems, plant networks and installations combining numerous Ethernet devices with fibre-optic infrastructure.
