Prusa MMU3 for the CORE One L printer expands the machine with multi-color and multi-material printing using a single nozzle. The system allows up to 5 filaments to be connected simultaneously and automatically switched during a single print without manual intervention.
Material changes are handled automatically, and excess filament generated during color transitions is directed to a compact wipe tower positioned at the edge of the print bed. This approach reduces waste typical for single-nozzle multi-material systems while maintaining clean color transitions.
MMU3 is fully supported in PrusaSlicer, allowing color assignment to selected model parts, defining material changes at specific layers, and optimizing filament usage. Preparation of multi-color prints is handled entirely in software, without requiring mechanical modifications to the printer.
The filament feeding system uses PTFE tubes and an integrated selection mechanism to reduce movement resistance and minimize the risk of filament tangling. Bidirectional communication with the printer firmware enables diagnostics and status messages displayed on the printer’s screen.
A larger version of the CORE One printer, offering a 300 x 300 x 330 mm build volume and the ability to print a wide range of materials, including technical and flexible materials. Equipped with an AC heated bed, a 60°C heating chamber, and the Nextruder system with two high-flow nozzles, it ensures high quality and stable prints. The printer supports advanced features such as Input Shaper, Phase Stepping, automatic bed and first layer calibration, and 1080p camera preview.
