A specialized demonstration board designed to support Tail Tagging within the embOS/IP IP stack. Using this technology, it is possible to transform a single Ethernet port into several logical ports, enabling the creation of a virtual multiport network using only a single Ethernet port. Segger embOS/IP Switch Board (6.70.00)
embOS/IP Switch Board is a specialized demonstration board designed for the Tail Tagging function within the SEGGER embedded IP stack, embOS/IP. This function was developed to extend the capabilities of Ethernet ports, allowing the transformation of a single physical Ethernet port into multiple independent logical ports using Tail Tagging technology. With this innovation, the board enables the creation of a virtual multi-port network using just one available Ethernet port on the CPU.
The heart of the board is the NXP Kinetis K66 microcontroller, which operates at 180 MHz. This microcontroller offers 256 KB SRAM and 2 MB Flash memory, providing sufficient computational power and space for complex applications. Additional peripheral features, such as the USB2.0 controller with built-in PHY and the Ethernet controller, are key components of this board. To ensure convenient access for debugging, the board is equipped with the built-in J-Link OB debugger, which allows for quick and easy access to the microcontroller and its debugging via Drag & Drop functionality. The board is powered through a USB Type B connector, and its power consumption depends on the configuration and connected Ethernet ports. In idle mode, the power consumption is approximately 140 mA. The USB connector can also be used to connect to a host that supports the USB 2.0 High-Speed device function (if required by the application).
