Modern controllers used in automation systems are extremely functional devices, which is mainly due to the possibility of programming them.
One of the most popular languages used to prepare applications for a PLC is a graphical ladder language (also called a shortcut LD or LAD). This is a basic PLC programming language for many years, the knowledge of which by automation experts involved in the creation of industrial applications is indispensable. Despite the development of other methods - graphic and text - to create applications for PLCs, interpreters and LAD compilators are standard equipment for all reputable PLC programming packages.
