Description

JTAG-HS3 is an affordable and high-speed programming and debugging solution for Xilinx® FPGA and SoC devices, developed by Digilent. It is designed as an enhanced version of the popular JTAG-HS1, featuring an open-drain buffer on pin 14, enabling support for Zynq-SoC processors. The programmer connects directly to the target board using a standard Xilinx JTAG 2x7 (2.00 mm) header. Powered via a USB micro-B port, it requires no external power supply and is automatically detected by the computer as a Digilent programming cable, even when not connected to the target device.

The USB 2.0 interface allows data transfer speeds up to 30 Mbit/s, ensuring fast and stable programming. JTAG signals remain in a high-impedance state when inactive, allowing the bus to be shared with other devices. The compact and lightweight design makes the JTAG-HS3 ideal for embedded systems. It is fully compatible with Xilinx Vivado® (version 2013.3 and later), ISE® (version 14.1 and later), iMPACT™, ChipScope™, and EDK software. It is worth noting that the programmer is not required for Digilent FPGA boards that include built-in programming circuitry.
