Advanced ADC converter module with four channels of analog inputs for Qwiic projects, offering high resolution of 24 bits and the ability to work with single-channel and differential inputs. With a programmable amplifier, the ability to select a reference voltage and support for up to 16 modules on one I2C bus, it is an ideal solution for applications requiring precise measurement of analog signals. Sparkfun SPX-23455
SparkX Qwiic 24-Bit ADC is an excellent solution for adding more analog inputs to a Qwiic-based project. The module offers four ADC input channels controlled via I2C, which can be used as both single-ended and differential inputs. The module can operate with sampling frequencies up to 1kHz, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. One of the key features of this module is the programmable amplifier with a gain of x1 or x4, allowing for the "zooming in" on very small changes in the analog voltage, though it will affect the input range and resolution. The device uses the ADS1219 chip, which can either use an internal reference voltage of 2.048V for measurements or accept an external reference voltage through the REFP and REFN pins.
For those who prefer using breadboards, the module also features 2.54 mm pitch pins, allowing for easy connection of analog inputs and reference pins. The module is equipped with eight address jumpers, enabling the selection of one of sixteen unique addresses (from 0x40 to 0x4F), allowing up to sixteen such modules to be connected to the same I2C bus, providing a total of up to 64 ADC channels. The module offers a maximum resolution of 24 bits, corresponding to a resolution of 244.14nV per sample at a gain of x1 and 61.04nV per sample at a gain of x4. However, it's important to note that the effective resolution is limited to 20 bits. The SparkX Qwiic 24-Bit ADC module is extremely versatile, ideal for both working with precise analog signals and increasing the number of inputs in a project.
