In many electronic laboratories, frequency meters are used, whose upper limit of the measured signal is the frequency of about 100MHz. Meanwhile, in everyday practice, devices are increasingly serviced, in which there are much higher frequencies. The cheap prescaler previously used in measuring instruments had an upper operating limit of 3GHz. In their place, we suggest to use the Analog Devices ADF4007 chip. This is a merged PLL loop with parallel programming that can be configured as a frequency divider. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the system operates from 0.5 to 7.5 GHz. However, measurements and charts from the catalog note promise much more - in practice you can expect correct operation in the 50 MHz - 8GHz range. It is an ideal solution for people who want to expand their frequency meters.
