About the book |
Lexicon is an encyclopedic dictionary of abbreviations used in broadly understood telecommunications, containing over 3,000 abbreviations and acronyms of names from different languages (Polish, English, French) along with deciphering the full spelling of their original names, as well as explaining their meaning in Polish. The abbreviations described concern: landline telephony, mobile telephony (including UMTS), wireless connectivity, computer networks, etc. The lexicon gives the meaning of the terms, description of the operation of various devices and their advantages and disadvantages, it can also help when buying or planning the purchase of a new telecommunications or ICT device, installing a computer network or using the Internet network. The practical nature of the lexicon lies in the fact that it is supposed to help people involved in the design, manufacture, sale, use and repair of teleinformation devices in their everyday work. Recipients: engineers, technicians and students in the field of telecommunications and computer networks as well as students of medium technical communication and electronic schools, as well as all those interested in telecommunications and computer networks. Additional information: Review in the journal ELEKTRONIK No. 11/2005 Nowadays, in society, almost in every area of life, there is a tendency to short and simplistic expression. In addition, we create many new words from foreign words. In the rapid development of technology and inventiveness, where the main research units do not lead, many new concepts describe the relevant phenomena. In general, these are English-language concepts, especially in the fields of information technology, electronics and telecommunications. To help you decipher and understand concepts, including such as: GGSN, FITL and others, a lexicon of abbreviations for the telecommunications industry was created. This small handbook contains more than 3,000 abbreviations and acronyms of names from various languages with full spelling of names in the original and explanations in Polish. The descriptions are not limited to short notes decoding the name, but also more accurately touch their meaning, eg describing the phenomena or operation of devices. The author often cites other abbreviations related to a given concept, and, where appropriate, historical events related to the development of a given technology or solution. The reader will find here explanations of abbreviations in various fields of telecommunications, ranging from computer networks, wireless communication to fixed-line telephony, mobile and UMTS technology. An obstacle in understanding a shortcut can only be the lack of adequate knowledge of the reader, but to change this, no dictionary is enough. (KW) |
