ZL8PRG is used for programming PLD systems manufactured by Lattice. Due to the universal construction, it can be used to program both PLD systems equipped with the JTAG ISP interface as well as older generation systems equipped with the Lattice ispDownload interface.
With the ZL8PRG programmer, you can program all PLD systems produced (now and earlier) by Lattice and equipped with an ISP interface (ORCA, ispXPGA, ispXPLD, ispMACH, ispGAL, ispLSI, ispGDX, ispGDX2, ispGDXV, and ispPAC). The programmer is compatible with both the Lattice ispDownload interface and the JTAG interface, and can be operated by any Lattice control program, with ispVM particularly recommended.
The programmer's operating mode is automatically selected by the program controlling its operation. Power supply to the programmer (1.8 ... 5 V for VHC circuits) is supplied from the device in which the programmed PLD system is mounted.
All elements used in the interface (except connectors) are suitable for surface mounting (SMD).
The programmer's operation can be controlled by means of several programs, but the largest possibilities are offered by Lattice ispVM (this program is available free of charge on the Lattice website). The ZL8PRG construction ensures correct cooperation with older versions of the ispVM program as well as other programs that support Lattice's PLP programmers.
