This book is a compendium of practical knowledge about the most important issues regarding the design, construction and operation of electrical installations. It describes the principles of operation, properties and purpose of electrical switching, protecting, controlling and other devices, as well as power cables and cables and electric energy receivers with rated voltage up to 1000 V AC. The technical conditions that should be met by electrical installations in non-industrial and industrial facilities, criteria for the selection of electrical equipment, the most commonly used power supply and control systems for circuits and electrical consumers should be provided. Principles of design and installation are presented in accordance with the conditions of use as well as environmental and technical requirements. Much attention was paid to the risk of electric shock and shock protection, testing methods and criteria for assessing the effectiveness of this protection, while the requirements of Polish standards and standards of other European countries were taken into account. The desired ranges and ways of modernization have been given to adapt the installations to the current requirements of the relevant standards and regulations. Also described are the principles of operation and design of modern electrical installations, sometimes called smart ones, which are already implemented and will be widely used in the future.

In the eighth edition, a lot of information and data have been updated. Chapter 3 was supplemented with information on the criteria for assessing the quality of electricity, the impact of reduced energy quality on the operation of electrical consumers, consumer supply systems with different requirements regarding the reliability of electricity supply and backup power equipment.

The book is intended for a wide range of electrical engineers and technicians involved in the design, construction and operation of electrical installations, as well as for students of electrical faculties. It can be very useful for students of senior high school classes with an electrical profile.
