Robots , these fascinating machines, are becoming an increasingly important element of our civilization. They have various constructions and applications: they disarm bombs, examine distant celestial bodies, assemble cars and ... vacuum carpets. They do dangerous work for people, too difficult or simply tiring and boring. Perhaps soon in hospitals and nursing homes they will take care of the bedridden patients. Robots work automatically, often enjoying a lot of autonomy.
What makes them more or less intelligent machines is software. This means that programming robots becomes an extremely valuable skill!
This book presents all the information necessary to start working independently with the programming of various robots: from those quite simple to advanced, multi-functional devices. The methods of programming telerobots, autonomous robots as well as programming strategies for hybrid robots have been explained. Principles of programming robot movements using engines and handling various types of sensors are presented. The description of programming techniques of robot decision-making algorithms is also included, and the issues of translating instructions (commands) from human language to a language understandable for a robot are also explained.
The most important issues discussed in the book:

Cameron Hughes programs computers and robots. Currently, he deals with AIM (Alternative Intelligence Machines) and AIR (Alternative Robot Intelligence) technologies. Hughes is also a programmer at the University of Youngstown.
Tracey Hughes is a programmer, she also creates systems for epistemic visualization. He works on methods of graphic visualization of "thinking" of robots and computers. Cameron and Tracey Hughes are members of the advisory board of the National Robotics Education Foundation.
