The Pololu S18V20F6 module is a DC-DC switching regulator of the step-up/step-down (buck-boost) type that can both raise and lower the input voltage while maintaining a stable 6 V output. The circuit operates over a wide input voltage range of 2.9 V – 32 V (30 V recommended maximum), making it suitable for battery-powered applications or systems with fluctuating supply voltages. The SEPIC (Single-Ended Primary Inductor Converter) topology enables voltage regulation regardless of whether the input voltage is higher or lower than the output voltage. The typical maximum output current is about 2 A, while efficiency in most applications ranges between 80% and 90%, helping reduce power loss and heat generation.

The module includes an ENABLE pin that allows the regulator to be placed in a low-power state. In sleep mode, the quiescent current can be reduced to tens of microamps depending on the input voltage. The regulator also features reverse-voltage protection, over-current protection, thermal shutdown (approx. 165 °C), and under-voltage lockout for improved reliability and safety. The PCB supports several connection methods: 5 mm screw terminal blocks, 2.54 mm header pins for prototyping boards or breadboards, or direct wire soldering.
