High-quality digital-to-analog converter that allows for pure stereo audio playback without the need for I2C configuration or the MCLK pin. It supports I2S signals (BCLK, WSEL, DIN) and audio formats up to 32 bits and 384 kHz, providing an excellent signal-to-noise ratio (112 dB). Audio output is available via a 3.5 mm jack or on-board pads, and the module works best as a line output to amplifiers and audio systems. Adafruit 6250
Adafruit PCM5102 I2S DAC is a high-quality digital-to-analog converter that enables stereo audio playback with excellent fidelity, without the need for additional configuration. Simply provide an I2S signal, and the chip will automatically process it — no MCLK pin or I2C setup required. The PCM5102 offers an impressive signal-to-noise ratio (112dB), making it perfect for projects that require clean audio. The module supports audio formats with 16, 24, and 32-bit resolution and sampling rates from 8 kHz to 384 kHz.
All you need is a 3 V to 5 V DC power supply and three signals: BCLK, WSEL, and DIN. The module operates in I2S mode by default but can be switched to Left-Justified mode. Additional pins allow configuration of filters (e.g. switching to low delay mode), enabling mute functionality, and de-emphasis for 44.1 kHz. Audio output is available via a 3.5 mm audio jack or through pads on the board — they should be connected to devices with a shared ground or AC isolation.
This DAC is not intended for use with headphones — it only supports loads above 1 kΩ, making it ideal as a line-level output for amplifiers, audio systems, or multimedia projects. Thanks to its compact size and straightforward operation, the module is a great addition to projects based on platforms like Raspberry Pi, ESP32, or Arduino.
