Description
The device Enviromental & Air Quality Sensor BME680 Breakout by Soldered uses the BME680 sensor from Bosch to measure temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, and gas sensor resistance. Gas sensor data can be processed to determine an IAQ air quality index. Altitude can also be calculated from atmospheric pressure measurements.
The temperature measurement range is -40 to 85°C, relative humidity range is 0–100% RH, and pressure range is 30–110kPa. The manufacturer specifies a temperature accuracy of ±1°C, humidity accuracy of ±3% RH, and pressure accuracy of ±12Pa. The specified IAQ index range is 0–500.
Communication with a microcontroller is provided through the I2C bus with a fixed address of 0x76. The board features two Qwiic connectors for connection to compatible development boards and additional modules without separate SDA and SCL wiring. VCC, GND, SDA, and SCL pins are also available for conventional header connections.
The board uses 3.3V logic and includes a regulator allowing operation from a 3.3V or 5V supply. The manufacturer specifies a maximum current consumption of 849µA during measurement and 0.15µA in idle mode. Board dimensions are 22 × 22mm. Applications include weather stations, environmental monitoring devices, building automation systems, and air quality monitoring equipment.
