Description

SparkFun BlueSMiRF v2 is a module dedicated to Bluetooth communication. It works as a wireless UART converter and is an excellent alternative to popular USB-UART serial converters. Just pair and connect the devices and transfer serial data at speeds from 2400 to 921600 bps. BlueSMiRF buffers, transmits and delivers data streams, maintaining full byte consistency, to both radios.

BlueSMiRF v2 has many improvements compared to the original version. The BlueSMiRF pinout is the same as previous Bluetooth Mates modules and USB-UART converters (e.g. FTDI, CH340, etc.), which makes it very easy to connect to many popular Arduino development boards and GNSS modules. The board can be directly connected to Arduino Pro, Pro Mini, LilyPad Arduino 328 Main, ZED-F9P, ZED-F9R, UM980, SerLCD, or any board with a standard 6-pin serial connector. It is ideal for communication with a range of up to 30 m indoors that require easy configuration.

BlueSMiRF can be connected to a phone or computer for data viewing or remote control. Two BlueSMiRFs can also be easily connected using the PAIR button. BlueSMiRF is designed to be remotely configured from your phone using a serial terminal application. Changing settings such as baud rate, flow control and LED mode is easy with a simple set of AT commands. Additionally, Over The Air (OTA) updates via WiFi enable easy software updates in the field when new features are released.

BlueSMiRF v2 has a built-in voltage stabilizer. and a voltage level converter to tolerate voltages from 3.3V to 5V. Two built-in LEDs indicate when BlueSMiRF is connected and when UART communication is occurring.
