The Waveshare 28760 uses TOF (time of flight) technology for non-contact distance measurement up to 40 m. The module integrates a microcontroller and ranging algorithm, enabling direct distance data output via UART or I2C without requiring complex calculations on the host system. Typical measurement accuracy reaches ±3 cm across the full operating range.

The sensor operates at a wavelength of 905 nm and features a very narrow field of view of 1° - 2°, improving resistance to ambient light interference and enabling precise measurements in both indoor and outdoor environments. Ambient light tolerance reaches up to 100 000 lx. The module supports UART communication at 3.3 V TTL logic level, I2C bus with cascading capability for up to 8 devices, and an I/O mode in which distance parameters are not provided.
Version 28760 corresponds to the 40 m variant of the TOF Laser Range Sensor series. The module is suitable for distance measurement systems, mobile robotics for obstacle avoidance and route planning, ceiling detection, stacking detection, and industrial automation applications.
