ESP32-S3-PhotoPainter is an AIoT digital photo frame based on the ESP32-S3 microcontroller, featuring a 7.3-inch full-color E Ink Spectra 6 (E6) e-paper display with a resolution of 800 × 480 px, housed in an aesthetic solid wood frame. The device is designed for ultra-low power consumption—power is required mainly during screen refresh, while the displayed content remains visible without continuous power draw.

At its core is a dual-core ESP32-S3 microcontroller (Xtensa LX7, up to 240 MHz) with support for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 LE, enabling network communication, AIoT integration, and remote content updates. The board includes 16 MB Flash and 8 MB PSRAM, providing sufficient resources for graphics processing, audio handling, and application logic.

The display uses E6 Full Color technology, supporting six primary colors with dithering algorithms to achieve high contrast, saturated images with a characteristic “paper-like” appearance. The module integrates audio codecs, a dual-microphone array, an RTC, an SHTC3 temperature and humidity sensor, a TF (microSD) card slot, and an advanced power management system, enabling functions such as:

The version with a 3.7 V lithium battery allows autonomous operation without a constant power supply, offering very long standby time and thousands of screen refreshes on a single charge (without additional high-power peripherals). The enclosure, styled as a classic photo frame, includes a rotatable desktop stand and a wall-mount hook.
