Description

The device Inkplate 6MOTION by Soldered is a programmable module featuring a 6-inch e-paper display with a resolution of 1024 × 758px and a pixel density of 212PPI. It supports 4-bit grayscale with 16 shades, while a partial refresh takes approximately 91ms, allowing refresh rates of up to around 11FPS. A full refresh takes approximately 500ms in black-and-white mode and 800ms in grayscale mode.

The main controller is an STM32H743ZIT6 with 2MB of Flash memory, 1MB of internal SRAM and 32MB of external DRAM. Wireless communication is handled by an ESP32-C3 co-processor providing WiFi and Bluetooth 5 LE. The board also includes a microSD card slot, RTC, USB-C connector, Qwiic/easyC connector and more than 30 GPIO lines supporting interfaces including I2C, SPI and UART.

Soldered Inkplate 6MOTION - e-paper display detail

Inkplate 6MOTION integrates several onboard sensors, including an LSM6DSO32 accelerometer and gyroscope, an SHTC3 temperature and humidity sensor and an APDS-9960 gesture and proximity sensor. It also provides three user push buttons, a rotary encoder with an illuminated indicator and two programmable WS2812B RGB LEDs. Power consumption in low-power mode is approximately 22µA.

The 333324 version is supplied with a 3D-printed enclosure and a 3.7V 1200mAh Li-Ion battery. An onboard MCP73831 charger allows the battery to be charged through USB-C. The device measures approximately 161 × 116 × 15mm with the enclosure. The e-paper panel is reclaimed from e-book readers, so minor cosmetic marks may be present without affecting functionality.
