Description

Waveshare ESP32-S3 RLCD 4.2″ with battery version is an AIoT development board based on the ESP32-S3 microcontroller, intended for projects requiring low power consumption, wireless communication, and voice interaction. The integrated 4.2″ reflective RLCD display provides an e-paper-like reading experience while offering faster refresh response.

The RLCD display with a resolution of 300 x 400 px operates in reflective mode and does not require a backlight, using ambient light instead. This solution performs well in bright environments and low-power applications. The board uses an SPI interface to drive the display and is equipped with the ST7305 display driver.

The module is built around a dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor with a clock frequency of up to 240 MHz and supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 LE connectivity. Integrated audio circuits, a dual-microphone array, and a speaker enable AI Voice Interaction applications, including speech recognition and near-field and far-field voice interaction.

                             

Onboard components include an SHTC3 temperature and humidity sensor, a PCF85063 RTC chip, and a TF card slot for memory expansion. The board features a built-in 18650 lithium battery holder and power management circuits for charging and discharging, with the 18650 battery included in the kit. Power can be supplied either from the included battery or via the USB-C port.

The board supports ESP-IDF and Arduino IDE environments and is suitable for prototyping, learning, IoT projects, smart desktop devices, electronic calendars, and control systems.
