The Matter, Thread and Zigbee gateway M5Stack CoreS3 Thread Border Router (K149) enables communication between IP networks based on WiFi and devices using the Thread protocol operating in the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. The platform is suitable for smart home systems, environmental monitoring, building automation and distributed sensor networks. Matter support simplifies interoperability and integration of devices from different manufacturers within a single IoT ecosystem.
Data processing is handled by the CoreS3 controller equipped with an ESP32-S3 dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor running at 240 MHz, 16 MB Flash memory and 8 MB PSRAM. Wireless communication in the IEEE 802.15.4 standard is provided by the Gateway H2 module based on the ESP32-H2-MINI-1, operating as an OpenThread Radio Co-Processor (RCP). The platform supports Thread, Zigbee and Matter protocols, enabling the development of communication gateways and edge devices for modern IoT applications.
The device features a 2" IPS touch display, 0.3 MP camera, proximity sensor, RTC, BMI270 IMU sensor and BMM150 magnetometer. Audio functions are supported by the ES7210 codec, dual microphone inputs and an AW88298 amplifier driving a 1 W speaker. The DIN rail mounting base allows installation in control cabinets and automation systems, while the built-in 500 mAh battery provides backup power. Additional expansion options include a microSD card slot, USB OTG interface and two HY2.0-4P expansion connectors.
