ESP-FLY DIY Kit is a compact self-assembly micro drone kit based on the Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-S3 module. The kit is designed for STEM education, programming learning, and hobbyists interested in electronics, robotics, and drone technology. The product is supplied as a DIY kit and therefore requires self-assembly and soldering before use. This allows users not only to build their own drone but also to gain a deeper understanding of electronic circuits and flight control systems. At the core of the design is the powerful XIAO ESP32-S3 microcontroller, featuring a dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor running at up to 240 MHz and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity. The drone offers two control methods – via the ESP-Drone application over Wi-Fi or through ESP-NOW technology using a compatible radio controller. In Wi-Fi mode, communication latency is as low as approximately 7–25 ms, ensuring smooth and responsive flight control. Flight stability is provided by a dedicated four-layer flight controller board equipped with an MPU6050 six-axis sensor. Thanks to the automatic leveling function in Angle mode, even beginners can quickly learn the basics of piloting.

The propulsion system is based on four coreless motors capable of reaching speeds of up to 70,000 RPM, providing excellent maneuverability and rapid response to control inputs. Compact dimensions of 67 × 67 × 31 mm and a takeoff weight of only 25 g make the drone ideal for safe indoor flights. Power is supplied by a 3.7 V 250 mAh LiPo battery, providing approximately 5 minutes of flight time per charge. Charging is conveniently performed via the USB-C port available on the XIAO ESP32-S3 module. The maximum control range is approximately 50 m when using a smartphone and up to 200 m when using ESP-NOW communication. The project's open architecture enables users to develop their own software, experiment with control algorithms, and integrate additional features. ESP-FLY is an excellent educational platform for students, makers, and anyone wishing to gain practical experience in building and programming unmanned aerial vehicles.
