Description

Industrial input/output controller designed to collect data from machines, sensors and automation installations and transmit it to systems using the MQTT protocol. The Cytron IRIV IO Controller MQTT comes with pre-installed MQTT gateway firmware, enabling input states and measurement data to be transmitted in JSON format. Configuration is performed through a local web interface without writing code. The controller can be used for machine monitoring, alarm event logging, building automation and remote supervision of technical installations.

The controller features a Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller with a dual-core Arm Cortex-M33 processor running at 150 MHz, 520 KB SRAM and 2 MB Flash memory. Network communication is provided through an RJ45 Ethernet port with a W5500 controller, while a galvanically isolated RS485 interface supports devices using Modbus RTU. Field signal connections include 11 isolated digital inputs, 4 isolated digital outputs and 2 analog inputs with 12-bit resolution. The analog inputs can be configured to measure voltages from 0 V to 10.56 V or currents from 0 mA to 42.58 mA.

The web interface allows individual channels to be mapped to MQTT topics, transmission parameters to be configured, Quality of Service (QoS) levels to be selected, and message retention settings to be adjusted. The Report-by-Exception (RBE) function reduces data transmission by publishing updates only when signal values change or configured thresholds are exceeded. The diagnostic dashboard displays current input and output states, device uptime, available memory and connection information. Test MQTT publishing and manual Modbus RTU register reading functions are also available.

The gateway firmware uses standard MQTT over port 1883, without built-in TLS/SSL encryption support. For communication with external services requiring encryption, data can be routed through a local broker or an intermediate gateway supporting TLS. The controller operates from a 10 V to 30 V DC power supply and features surge protection. Electrical isolation of the industrial interfaces helps reduce the effects of interference in automation installations.
