The use of lamps is a great way to improve the sound of an audio system. A much cheaper solution than purchasing a new amplifier is to use a tube buffer plugged between the CD player and the amplifier. The device is to alleviate the sharp sound of especially cheaper, factory audio sets. The buffer changes the characteristics of the classic amp so that a typical, warm 'tube' sound is obtained. This is the effect of various types of distortion, in particular even harmonics. A double triode of low power was used to construct the putty.
