Superconductivity at the lowest temperatures discovered at the beginning of the century is undoubtedly one of the phenomena that have fascinated physicists of the 20th century. The high-temperature superconductivity (around 100 K) discovered in the late eighties became a stimulus for the development of solid state physics and material engineering. Superconductivity was also found in carbon materials - fullerenes. This book presents the basics of superconducting knowledge, among others: - Superconductor properties; - Research techniques and a variety of superconducting materials together with the methods of their preparation; - The theory of superconductivity; - Magnetic flux quantification and Josephson phenomenon; - Applications in metrology, high magnetic field technology, medicine, communication, power engineering and electronics.
