The design is an external interface of the OBD II socket, which enables easy access to the CAN bus and other transmission lines used by vehicle manufacturers using a diagnostic tester.
OBDII is the standard applicable to all cars manufactured after January 1, 1996 in the USA and after January 1, 2003 in the European Union. One of the most important advantages of the CAN interface is that all electronic modules and sensors in a given subnetwork are connected in parallel to a 2-wire twist, thus reducing the weight and cost of the electrical installation.
