DAQ device based on USB communication and equipped with 8 counter inputs, 4 PWM outputs and 8 digital IOs. It offers a frequency of up to 48 MHz, a resolution of up to 64-bit and a scan speed of up to 8 MB / s.
The USB-CTR08 provides high-speed counter / timer operations in sync with digital I / O functions. It offers high scanning frequency and speed, filtering, support for multiple counting modes and software selectable resolution up to 64 bits. It also provides eight individually configurable digital I / O channels.
The inputs of the counters can be read asynchronously under program control or synchronously with the digital inputs within a digital scan group. In both cases, the counters can be configured to run in one of the following ways:
Counter inputs can simultaneously monitor time periods, frequencies, pulses and other events controlled directly from pulse generators, limit switches, proximity switches and magnetic transducers. The counter gates use input signals to reset the counter, reverse the counter, or start / stop counting. The counter outputs can be used to control or transmit signals to external devices as well as to counter inputs, counter gates or digital inputs.
The USB-CTR08 supports various counter input modes: totaling mode (event counter), period measurement mode, pulse width measurement mode, and timing mode. They are software-selected, and some of them contain maximum-limit and minimum-limit register values that do not directly affect the current counting, but set limits in some modes to determine the counter behavior.
In period measurement mode, the device measures the period of any signal at the counter input (CxIN). The device counts the total number of ticks that make up a period, and the returned data is always the time measured in ticks. The measurement period is the time from slope to slope. The returned data is interpreted as the time measured in ticks.
In the pulse width measurement mode, the device measures the time from the rising edge to the falling edge or vice versa on the counter input (CxIN). Each time a pulse width measurement is blocked from the meter, the meter is immediately cleared and allows the time to be counted for the next pulse width.
In timing mode, the device measures the time between the counter input event (CxIN) and the next counter gate event (CxGT), such as the rising or falling edge of one event with respect to the rising or falling edge of another event (based on the edge detection setting).
The USB-CTR08 has a circuit that eliminates switch-induced transients that are typically associated with electromechanical devices, including relays, proximity switches, and encoders. You can configure the time, mode and sensitivity of the rising or falling edge.
The device also includes four 32-bit timer outputs. Each clock can generate a programmable PWM pulse with a program-selectable frequency in the range of 0.02235 Hz to 48 MHz. At higher frequencies, the timer output frequency and duty cycle depend on the load and power impedance. The timer output speed and pulse width can be updated asynchronously at any time, however, this produces a non-smooth pulse stream. Users can synchronize meter data acquisition with the built-in clock or an external clock connected to the external clock input connector.
Extensive software support includes DAQami - an optional out-of-the-box data capture, visualization and signal generation application. Data can be viewed in real time or after acquisition on user-configurable screens. Drivers for the most popular applications and programming languages are also included, including Visual C ++, Visual C #, Visual Basic.NET, DASYLab, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Python.
