A5984 stepper motor driver for bipolar stepper motors, supply voltage 8-40 V, fixed current limit 500 mA at 5 V or 330 mA at 3.3 V, microstepping up to 1/32 and STEP/DIR interface. Version with soldered header pins. Pololu 5351
A5984 stepper motor driver designed for controlling bipolar stepper motors in automation, robotics and electromechanical systems. Control is performed using a simple STEP/DIR interface, enabling easy integration with microcontrollers and development platforms. The driver supports eight microstepping modes from full step up to 1/32 step, allowing smooth motion and precise positioning.

The module operates with motor supply voltage in the range of 8 V - 40 V and logic voltage from 2.5 V to 5.5 V. Fixed current limit is set to 500 mA at 5 V logic or 330 mA at 3.3 V, eliminating the need for manual adjustment. The device uses Adaptive Percent Fast Decay algorithm to optimize motor current waveform. Built-in protections include over-current, thermal shutdown and under-voltage lockout. The module maintains compatibility in pinout and interface with A4988 drivers, allowing use as a replacement in many applications. Version 5351 includes soldered header pins, enabling direct use with breadboards and 16-pin sockets without additional soldering.
