A stepper motor driver for precise control of bipolar motors, offering six microstepping modes (from full to 1/32). It operates within a voltage range of 8.2V to 44V and delivers up to 1.5A per phase without cooling or up to 2.2A with a heatsink/fan, ensuring smooth and stable operation even at high speeds. Compatible with the popular A4988 and DRV8825 drivers, with an integrated regulator and overheating, overload, and short circuit protection, the TB67S581FNG is a reliable and versatile solution for applications requiring precise motion control. Pololu 2989
The TB67S581FNG stepper motor driver is an advanced board that enables precise control of bipolar stepper motors. The device offers six microstepping modes, from full step up to 1/32, allowing for exceptional smoothness and motion accuracy. Thanks to the built-in current control system, it is possible to adjust operating parameters to the motor’s characteristics and achieve higher step rates, even when powered well above the motor’s nominal voltage. The module operates in a range of 8.2 V to 44 V and can deliver up to about 1.5 A per phase without additional cooling, while with a heatsink or forced airflow the maximum phase current reaches 2.2 A.

The driver includes overtemperature, overcurrent, and undervoltage protection, which significantly increases the overall system reliability. Thanks to its design, the module is compatible with popular A4988 and DRV8825 drivers, making integration into existing projects much easier. The pinout and interface are nearly identical, allowing it to serve as a drop-in replacement without requiring system redesign. Additionally, the module is equipped with an internal regulator, so it does not require external logic power supply, and its control is limited to simple STEP and DIR signals.
With an operating voltage of up to 44 V, the driver is less susceptible to damage caused by power supply surges. The board also features short-to-ground and coil overcurrent protection, improving operational safety. A special 4-layer PCB with thick copper enhances heat dissipation and operational stability. The device supports different types of stepper motors (4-, 6-, and 8-wire) with proper wiring.
By using microstepping, the user can increase step resolution, reaching up to 800 microsteps per revolution in 1/4 mode or even higher values at greater subdivisions. The driver is ideal for use in 3D printers, plotters, CNC systems, and other projects requiring precise and smooth motion control. The product is sold as a version with preassembled SMD components, without connectors, giving the user flexibility in choosing the mounting method.
