Compact stepper motor driver based on the TMC5160-TA chip by Trinamic, designed for precise and quiet control of stepper motors in 3D printers, CNC machines, and other automation systems. The module operates with a motor supply voltage from 8 V to 35 V, providing high performance and stable operation thanks to advanced motion control algorithms. Communication is handled via the SPI interface, allowing precise configuration of operating parameters. The driver supports microstepping up to 1/256, ensuring very high motion precision and smooth motor operation. BIGTREETECH TMC5160T V1.0
The BIGTREETECH TMC5160T V1.0 is an advanced stepper motor driver based on the TMC5160 chip from Trinamic, designed for applications requiring high precision and quiet motor operation. The driver supports a motor supply voltage range of 8–35 V, enabling compatibility with a wide range of stepper motors used in 3D printers, CNC plotters, and other mechatronic devices.
The chip uses StealthChop2 technology, providing extremely quiet and smooth motor operation at lower speeds. The SpreadCycle mode allows higher speeds and improved torque performance. The driver also supports StallGuard2, which enables detection of motor load or stall conditions, and CoolStep, which automatically adjusts motor current to improve energy efficiency and reduce heat generation.
Driver configuration is performed via the SPI interface, allowing precise adjustment of parameters such as motor current, operating modes, and microstepping settings. The module follows the StepStick form factor, making it compatible with many popular controller boards used in 3D printers, including BIGTREETECH SKR, GEN, RAMPS, and other RepRap-compatible controllers.
The compact module dimensions of 15.3 × 20.4 mm allow easy installation in standard stepper driver sockets commonly used in 3D printer electronics.
