The Feather RP2040 is a board featuring the RP2040 microcontroller designed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The chip has two ARM Cortex M0+ cores running at up to 133 MHz and 264 kB of RAM. The microcontroller is not equipped with flash memory, but there is an 8MB external memory on the board connected via the QSPI interface.
On the board, in addition to the RP2040 chip and flash memory, the user will find a 3.3 V voltage stabiliser, Boot and Reset buttons, NeoPixel LEDs and RGB LEDs, a USB type C connector for powering and programming the module, and 21 GPIO outputs, where peripherals such as four 12-bit ADC inputs, 16 PWM outputs, two I2C, SPI and UART interfaces are brought out. Additional sensors can be easily connected via the STEMMA QT connector and I2C interface.
An important part of the board is the HDMI connector, with which the Feather board can be used to display data on a monitor. The I2C pins of the HDMI connector are connected to the SDA/SCL of the RP2040 microcontroller (via a voltage level converter) so that the EDID EEPROM of the displays can be read. The user also has the CEC and Utility pins available, as well as the Hot Plug Detect pin. To support the HDMI display, the manufacturer provides an easy-to-use Arduino library.
The platform supports the popular MicroPython and C/C++ programming languages. Programs can be uploaded to the memory via the USB interface using the built-in bootloader.
