Badgeware Badger is a smart, interactive educational kit featuring a 2.7-inch e-Paper display with 4-level grayscale, powered by the Raspberry Pi RP2350 microcontroller. The device combines the functionality of an electronic badge with a versatile development platform for educational and IoT projects. The fast-refresh display with a resolution of 264 × 176 pixels is ideal for presenting charts, schedules, labels, QR codes, and dynamic messages. Thanks to e-Paper technology, content remains visible even without power, resulting in extremely low energy consumption.
At its core is the RP2350A – a dual-core Arm Cortex-M33 running at 250 MHz with 520 KB SRAM, supported by 16 MB of QSPI Flash (XiP) and 8 MB of PSRAM. Wireless connectivity is provided by the Raspberry Pi RM2 (CYW43439) module with support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth. The Badger 2350 features a built-in 1000 mAh LiPo battery charged via a USB-C port, with the MCP73831 charger IC ensuring safe charging at 455 mA. An integrated PCF85063A real-time clock enables wake-up from sleep mode, making it possible to create energy-efficient periodic applications.
The device is enclosed in a durable, semi-transparent polycarbonate case (turquoise back) with 4-zone mono LED backlighting. Users have access to five front user buttons, as well as dedicated Reset/Sleep and Home/Boot buttons. Programming is done in MicroPython, and applications can be launched via the BadgeOS system. The built-in I2C connector (Qwiic/STEMMA QT) allows easy connection of expansion modules and sensors. Badger 2350 is an ideal solution for STEM education, conference projects, information systems, and low-power IoT display applications.
