Description

LM73100 Ideal Diode is a high-performance, modern protection module designed for applications where energy efficiency and circuit safety are essential. The device acts as an ideal diode, allowing current to flow in only one direction, but without the energy losses typical of standard silicon diodes. Instead of a typical 1 V voltage drop, the integrated circuit with two FET transistors features an ultra-low RDS(on) resistance of only 30 mΩ, which results in a drop of just about 150 mV at 5A current. This makes the module perfect for projects powered by Li-Poly batteries or solar panels, where every milliamp-hour matters.

The module supports a wide input voltage range from 2.7 V to 23 V DC and can operate with currents up to 5 A, making it a versatile solution for various electronic applications. The built-in FETs are connected back-to-back, providing effective reverse current blocking and high reliability. Additionally, the circuit offers fast surge and inrush current protection with a response time of only 500 ns. Thanks to the built-in IMON output, users can easily monitor current consumption without external meters. A green LED indicator shows the correct current flow direction, simplifying diagnostics and testing.

The manufacturer also ensured user convenience – the module features screw terminals for solder-free installation and gold-plated 2.54 mm solder pads for use with a breadboard. Additional safety features, such as thermal protection and a “Power Good” function, increase operational safety in demanding conditions. Its compact size makes it easy to integrate into any power system, such as IoT devices, measurement systems, or portable electronic projects.
