Description

PRP1 Power Rail Probe is a high-end active measurement probe designed for precise analysis of ripple, noise, and fast transients on DC power rails in modern electronic systems. The device has been developed for engineers working on power integrity in high-speed digital systems, where accurate measurement of very low-amplitude signals is critical. The probe offers a bandwidth of up to 2 GHz, enabling observation of extremely fast events without significant measurement distortion. With an input offset range of up to ±24 V and the ability to measure dynamic signals at the ±350 mV level, the PRP1 supports a wide range of power applications.

The probe is designed to minimize loading of the device under test (DUT), which is essential when measuring switching power supplies and modern DC/DC converters. In operation, it provides a 50 kΩ DC input resistance and a 50 Ω high-frequency impedance, achieving a balance between measurement accuracy and minimal circuit impact. This design helps avoid measurement errors caused by the typical 50 Ω oscilloscope loading, which can alter the operating mode of power supplies.

The PRP1 uses SMA interfaces on both input and output, ensuring high signal integrity and low transmission loss. Power is supplied via USB-C 5 V, allowing convenient powering directly from an oscilloscope or an external source. The typical current consumption is only 20 mA, making the probe highly energy-efficient and easy to integrate into existing measurement setups.

The PRP1 Power Rail Probe is used for analyzing switching converters, FPGA systems, high-performance processors, and embedded systems where power stability is critical. Thanks to its design, it serves as a cost-effective alternative to professional laboratory probes while still offering high precision and wide measurement bandwidth. The included accessory set enables flexible connection to various test points, significantly increasing its versatility in both laboratory and production environments.
