A compact and powerful IoT prototyping platform based on the dual-core nRF5340 (Arm Cortex-M33) chip, which allows you to run machine learning (ML) models directly on the device. With the nRF Edge Impulse app, users can wirelessly transmit sensor data, train ML models in the cloud, and deploy them back. Support for Bluetooth LE, mesh, Thread, Zigbee, and Matter protocols makes the Thingy:53 ideal for smart home systems. The device is equipped with numerous sensors (temperature, humidity, air quality, light, microphone, accelerometer), a USB-C rechargeable Li-Po battery, and a Grove/Qwiic/Stemma-compatible JST connector, providing great flexibility for prototyping and demonstrations. Nordic Thingy:53
Nordic Thingy:53 is a multifunctional prototyping platform for IoT devices, enabling rapid development and demonstration without the need for custom hardware design. It is based on the nRF5340 SoC, a dual-core system-on-chip with Arm Cortex-M33 cores, providing high processing power and ample memory to run machine learning (ML) models directly on the device.
With the nRF Edge Impulse app, users can wirelessly stream sensor data to the cloud via Bluetooth LE, train ML models, and deploy them back onto the Thingy:53. This app also enables real-time monitoring of inference results. Thanks to support for Bluetooth LE, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, Zigbee, and 2.4 GHz, the Nordic Thingy:53 is also ideal for smart home systems, especially those compatible with the new Matter standard.

The platform includes a wide range of integrated sensors, such as temperature, humidity, air quality, pressure, light, and color sensors, as well as a microphone and accelerometer. It is powered by a rechargeable Li-Po battery and supports USB-C charging, ensuring portability and ease of use. Additionally, it features a JST connector compatible with Stemma/Qwiic/Grove, allowing for external accessory integration.
The device comes with pre-installed software, ready for use with the nRF Edge Impulse app and the nRF Programmer app, which supports over-the-air firmware updates.
