The nRF52840 Dongle is a small, affordable USB module that supports Bluetooth 5.3, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, Zigbee, 802.15.4, ANT and 2.4 GHz protocols. It is an ideal target device for use with the nRF Connect for Desktop application. It supports all short-range wireless standards used with Nordic devices. The module is designed for use as a wireless hardware device. For other applications, please note that it does not support debugging, only device programming and USB communication.
The dongle is supported by the nRF Connect for Desktop application. It can work with default software, e.g. as a Bluetooth Low Energy Sniffer, or with custom user software. It has a user-programmable RGB LED, a green LED, a programmable button, as well as 15 GPIOs available on solder points along the edge. Example applications are available in the nRF5 SDK.
