Development kit for designing and testing IoT devices using LTE-M and NB-IoT cellular networks and GNSS positioning systems. The Nordic Semiconductor nRF9160 DK features an nRF9160 SiP integrating an LTE-M/NB-IoT modem, GNSS receiver and 64 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 application processor with 1 MB Flash memory and 256 KB RAM. An additional nRF52840 microcontroller supports Bluetooth Low Energy communication. The board includes integrated LTE-M/NB-IoT, GNSS and 2.4 GHz antennas, a nano SIM slot and an MFF2 eSIM footprint.
Developing asset trackers and location monitoring systems - enables device location data to be transmitted over cellular networks. Designing wireless measurement systems - allows sensor data to be collected and sent to cloud services. Monitoring industrial installations - supports the development of devices for remote supervision and diagnostics. Building communication gateways - enables Bluetooth LE devices to be connected to LTE-M or NB-IoT infrastructure.
Arduino Uno Rev3-compatible connectors provide access to GPIO pins and SPI, TWI (I2C) and UART interfaces. Four user-programmable LEDs, two buttons and two switches are available. The SEGGER J-Link OB programmer/debugger supports programming and debugging, while the nRF Connect SDK provides drivers, examples and support for MQTT, CoAP, HTTP(S) and LwM2M protocols. The kit integrates with nRF Cloud and supports PSM and eDRX power-saving mechanisms. Power can be supplied through 5 V USB or an external 3.0 V to 5.5 V DC source.
