FRDM i.MX 91 is a compact development board based on the modern i.MX 91 application processor, featuring a Cortex-A55 core clocked at 1.4 GHz and an integrated EdgeLock® Secure Enclave security module. It is an ideal platform for IoT system designers and industrial automation developers who need a powerful and secure solution. The board integrates the u-blox MAYA-W476-00B module, providing support for three wireless technologies: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4, and 802.15.4, enabling protocols such as Thread, Zigbee, and Matter.
With 1 GB LPDDR4 memory and 8 GB eMMC 5.1 storage, the device offers fast boot times and smooth operation of the Linux® operating system. Additionally, there is a MicroSD slot and EEPROM memory available, allowing flexible data management and capacity expansion. Built-in 40-pin connectors for display and camera enable connection of external multimedia components, opening broad possibilities for visual applications.
The board also features a variety of communication ports, including USB-C, USB-A, two Ethernet ports (GbE), CAN interface, and a rich set of 40-pin GPIO headers. Supported interfaces include I²C, ADC, and UART, making the board highly versatile. Thanks to the use of a SWD debug connector and UART communication via USB-C, the board is ready for programming and testing straight out of the box. The presence of a 3.5 mm headphone jack with MQS support allows adding audio capabilities to projects.
Power supply and stable operation are ensured by an integrated PMIC, providing the appropriate voltages for all components. The board is compatible with multiple development environments and debugging tools, facilitating rapid prototyping. FRDM i.MX 91 is designed with high reliability, data security, and ease of integration in complex industrial environments in mind. Its compact size allows it to fit even in constrained end-device spaces. Thanks to the open platform and Linux® support, users have full freedom to configure and expand functionality. This product is ready both for learning and commercial applications.
