The reflectance sensor module is designed to detect changes in light reflected from a surface, such as contrast between light and dark areas. The solution is commonly used in mobile robots of the line follower type, edge and drop detection systems, as well as simple measurement setups and educational projects.
The module is based on a single QTRX-type sensor consisting of an infrared LED emitter and a phototransistor. The RC output generates a digital signal in which the reflectance level is encoded in the pulse duration, enabling direct connection to microcontroller I/O pins without the need for an ADC.

An operating voltage range of 2.9–5.5V allows integration with both 3.3V and 5V systems. The module features very low current consumption, independent of the supply voltage. The optimal sensing distance from the reflective surface is approximately 10mm, with a maximum recommended detection distance of up to 30mm. The version with a side-entry JST-SH connector allows convenient cable routing in applications with limited mounting space.
