Description

Waveshare UGV Beast PT Jetson Orin ROS2 Kit represents a mobile robot designed for research, development, and educational applications in the field of mobile robotics and autonomous systems. A tracked drive system enables operation on uneven terrain and in conditions where wheeled platforms provide limited traction.

                                         

Two controlers
The Waveshare UGV Beast PT Jetson Orin ROS2 mobile robot supports NVIDIA Jetson Orin modules, providing high computational performance intended for advanced mobile robotics and artificial intelligence projects. The platform supports execution of computer vision algorithms, machine learning workloads, and autonomous systems after installing a compatible Jetson Orin module. The robot design uses a dual-controller architecture, where the main computing unit is the Jetson Orin module (not included in the kit), responsible for AI tasks, sensor data processing, motion planning, and communication within the ROS2 environment. A secondary controller handles low-level drive control, sensor management, and precise motion operations, ensuring stable and predictable system behavior even under high computational load on the main unit. 
The robot integrates a camera mounted on a pan-tilt rotating turret, enabling environmental observation with a full 360° horizontal range and vertical axis movement. The camera supports image acquisition for vision systems, navigation, and object recognition and tracking algorithms. The video stream may be processed locally on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin platform or transmitted to an operator station.

Gamepad Controler
Control is possible via a wireless gamepad, providing manual operation of robot movement and selected system functions. The controller enables intuitive control of the tracked drive, adjustment of travel direction, and real-time speed regulation. Analog sticks control chassis movement and pan-tilt turret motion with the mounted camera. Function buttons support additional operations such as capturing photos, starting and stopping video recording, enabling and disabling LED lighting, and quickly returning the camera to a centered position. 
After establishing a connection, real-time monitoring of system parameters becomes available, including power status, computational load, sensor states, and diagnostic information. System data supports configuration of operating parameters, supervision of active tasks, and integration of the robot with control systems and software based on the ROS2 environment.
