Pololu MiniIMU-9 v6 is a module with a 3-axis gyroscope and LSM6DSO accelerometer and a 3-axis LIS3MDL magnetometer. It has very small dimensions, thanks to which it can be used in various types of projects, such as mobile robots or IoT devices. It has a built-in power supply circuit based on a 3.3 V stabilizer and a logic level converter, thanks to which it can work with 3.3 V and 5 V systems. The LSM6DSO and LIS3MDL have many configurable options, including dynamically selected gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer sensitivities. The two ICs can be accessed via a common I2C/TWI interface. Additionally, the configuration pin allows users to change the I2C addresses of the sensors and connect two MiniIMUs to the same bus.
The sensor provides all the data needed to create an AHRS system. With the right algorithm, a microcontroller or computer can use the data to calculate the orientation of the board. The gyroscope can be used to track rotation very accurately on a short timescale, while the accelerometer and compass can reduce drift by providing reference data.
