BLDC drone motors drive the propellers and generate the thrust required for multirotor flight. The category includes brushless electric motors designed for drones, including FPV platforms, with different sizes, KV ratings, supported supply voltages, and propulsion system parameters. Motor selection should take into account the battery cell count, ESC, propeller diameter and pitch, and drone weight.

Brushless BLDC motors use electronic commutation provided by an ESC and deliver the parameters required by multirotor propulsion systems. FPV drones use motors with different sizes and KV ratings, selected according to frame size, battery voltage, propeller configuration, and the required flight characteristics.
The KV rating indicates the increase in motor speed per volt of supply voltage under no-load conditions. Motors with higher KV ratings can reach higher rotational speeds at a given voltage, while lower-KV motors are often paired with higher supply voltages or larger propellers. KV should be considered together with battery voltage, propeller size, and the motor manufacturer's recommendations.
The supported voltage range determines whether a motor can operate with batteries of a given cell count. The range may include motors designed for 2S, 3S, 4S, 6S and 8S systems, so compatibility with the voltage of the complete propulsion system should be checked before selection.
The motor should be paired with a propeller whose diameter, pitch, and blade count match its operating parameters. Selecting an ESC with an appropriate current rating and voltage range is equally important and should account for the motor's maximum current draw in the intended propulsion configuration.
When configuring a propulsion system, consider the drone size and weight, motor KV rating, battery voltage, propeller parameters, and ESC capabilities. These parameters should not be selected independently - the motor, propeller, ESC, and battery operate together as a complete propulsion system.
