The Adafruit 5974 module with the HX711 converter enables precise reading of signals from strain gauges and load cells based on a Wheatstone bridge, offering 24-bit resolution and selectable gain. With an integrated screw terminal and options for sampling rate and channel configuration, it is used in projects involving force, pressure, or weight measurement in IoT systems, electronic scales, and mechanical testing.
The Adafruit 5974 module features a 24-bit analog-to-digital converter HX711 designed for precise reading of signals from Wheatstone bridges, typical for strain gauges and load cells. It supports two differential measurement channels (A and B), with channel A offering selectable gain of 64x or 128x, and channel B fixed at 32x. The device is compatible with four-wire sensors. A 6-position terminal allows for connecting one or two load cells.
The module includes a built-in voltage regulator, oscillator, and digital filtering with 50 and 60 Hz noise rejection. The digital interface operates via a two-wire protocol similar to SPI. Sampling rates of 10 or 80 samples per second can be selected via a switch. It is compatible with Arduino and CircuitPython/Python libraries.
