I2S digital-to-analog converter based on the PCM5122, offering high-quality stereo line-level output, hardware mode operation and optional configuration via I2C or SPI, designed for microcontrollers and Raspberry Pi. Adafruit 6421
The Adafruit 6421 PCM5122 I2S DAC is intended for converting digital I2S audio signals into an analog line-level output in projects based on microcontrollers and single-board computers such as Raspberry Pi, ESP32 and RP2040. The module uses the high-performance PCM5122 DAC, providing clean, stereo audio without the need for an external MCLK signal or initial configuration via control buses.
The default hardware mode allows quick startup by simply supplying I2S signals. When additional control is required, the device can be configured via I2C or SPI, enabling volume adjustment, muting, equalization and digital filter selection. The DAC automatically detects 16-, 24- or 32-bit sample widths based on the clock signal ratio. The audio output is line-level and intended for use with audio amplifiers, active speakers or other audio processing circuits.
